We are a professional-level sacred choral ensemble based in North Alabama, dedicated to performing classical and sacred choral music at the highest level. We bring together some of the region's finest voices for focused, rewarding concert projects.
Each season is a self-contained project — we rehearse together for 6–8 weeks, perform a concert, and that's it. There's no year-round commitment, no lengthy season, and no pressure to sign on for months at a time. If life gets busy, you can sit out a season and come back for the next one. It's serious music-making designed to fit real life.
Rehearsals meet once or twice a week for approximately 6–8 weeks leading up to each concert, running 90 minutes each. You'll also have a dress rehearsal the week of the concert. No monthly meetings, no additional obligations.
Singers are expected to attend at least 80% of scheduled rehearsals each season. The final two rehearsals before the concert — including dress rehearsal — are mandatory for all performers. We understand that life happens, but consistent attendance is essential to the integrity of the ensemble and fairness to your fellow singers. If you have a known conflict, please communicate with the director as early as possible.
For your first season, yes. After that, returning singers are invited back at the director's discretion. We want the process to be as easy as possible for singers who've already proven themselves with us.
We are looking for professional-level vocalists — singers who read music confidently, blend well in an ensemble, and bring a high standard of preparation to rehearsal. Prior choral experience at a college, semi-professional, or professional level is ideal.
You'll need two contrasting prepared sacred works of your choice, plus two assigned pieces that we'll send you approximately two weeks before your audition date. You'll also complete a brief sight-reading exercise and a vocal range and ear test. Full details are on our Auditions page.
There is a $30 participation fee per season, which helps cover music and production costs. Scholarships are available for students — simply reach out to us at huntsvillesacredchorale@gmail.com to inquire.
Our repertoire spans Renaissance to contemporary sacred music — including major choral works, Psalm settings, spirituals, and beloved sacred anthems. Each season's program is thoughtfully curated by our Artistic Director, Dr. Aaron Jackson.
Rehearsals are held at Huntsville First United Methodist Church and begin at 6:00 PM. Specific rehearsal days and the full schedule are announced each season. Check our website or follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates.
We'd love that. Reach out to us at huntsvillesacredchorale@gmail.com and we'll be happy to invite you to sit in.
